What are the conditions EMDR Healing Program can treat?

The program starts with a comprehensive evaluation of what is going on and what are the major factors that are causing the distress. Our team which includes a skilled Psychologist, a Psychiatrist and a psychotherapist can be involved and consulted and if needed participate in the treatment. If necessary appropriate adjunct psychotherapeutic modalities or medication intervention can be considered. Once other biological and emotional contributing factors were identified and addressed we move forward to EMDR Therapy phase. 2) We process the experiences that are causing you problems, and to include new ones that are needed for full health. “Processing” will set up a learning state that will allow experiences that are causing problems to be “digested” and stored appropriately in your brain. 3) This therapy will leave you with the emotions, understanding, and perspectives that lead to healthy, useful behaviors and interactions and your equilibrium will be restored.

What is an EMDR session like?

EMDR Therapy uses a set of standardized protocols that incorporate elements from many different treatment approaches. Simply put, when the patient accesses a difficult memory and notices whatever comes up, while engaging in lateral eye movements, bilateral taps or listening to tones, adaptive and bilateral taps or listening to tones, adaptive and accelerated processing spontaneously occurs. The central instructions to you will be: lateral eye movements, bilateral taps or listening to tones, adaptive and bilateral taps or listening to tones, adaptive and accelerated processing spontaneously occurs. The central instructions to you will be: “Just notice” or “Go with that” You are asked at the outset what the images, thoughts, beliefs, sensations and distress levels are, that accompany this memory or “target”, and these questions assist you in accurately accessing the material you seek relief from. Complete treatment of the adverse experiences involves a three-pronged approach (past memories, present disturbance or triggers, future actions or concerns), which are needed to alleviate the symptoms and address the complete clinical picture. Often patients will report at the conclusion of a session that they are fatigued. This is entirely normal, in fact, it is a good sign as this often heralds a good treatment effect. Any fatigue is transient and should resolve within a few hours following a session. Your memories will be preserved but they will seem more distant and less troublesome and a more balanced perspective will be restored. Often positive memories that were previously eclipsed by negative material will emerge. The length of time spent in treatment with EMDR Therapy varies according to your particular history, biological makeup, internal strengths and life experiences. In general, treatment is typically briefer than with some other forms of psychotherapy and is therefore often more cost effective yielding results sooner.
