Relationship Counseling
Humans are shaped to need connection. Fostering strong relationships with the people around us is a lifelong endeavor. Depending on their quality, your relationships can either add to your quality of life or detract from it. Therapy can help you prioritize what relationships are important to you and figure out how to maintain and support them throughout your life. Many people see relationships counseling as just being for romantic couples. But there are a variety of types of relationships that can benefit from therapy:
Romantic relationships and marriages
- Managing conflict in the relationship
- Navigating dynamics with extended family
- Deciding whether the relationship has long-term potential
- Reigniting the spark in the relationship
Parents and Children
- Resolving conflict between parents and adult children living at home
- Finding ways for parents to support their teenage children leaving for college
- Finding balance between teens’ desire for independence and parents’ desire for control and boundaries
Families
- Reconnecting with estranged family members
- Grieving the loss of a loved one
- Processing family trauma
- Healing dysfunctional family dynamics
Friendships
- Easing social anxiety to foster connection with others
- Assuaging loneliness
- Preventing social isolation
Work relationships
- Navigating dysfunctional work environments
- Developing leadership skills for supervisors
- Managing difficult boss expectations
