Women’s Emotional Health
McLean Counseling Center
Women may face environmental, psychological, and biological challenges related to their gender, which can have a significant impact on their mental health and well-being. If not addressed properly, these challenges can become burdens, leading to anxiety, depression, and a loss of self-esteem. Women are more likely than men to suffer from certain mental health conditions such as anxiety and depression, and their symptoms may differ. Mental health treatment that addresses the unique needs of women is available for those suffering from a range of conditions.
Common Issues Women Face:
Challenging gender roles at home and in the workplace
Eating disorders or disordered eating
Pregnancy loss or miscarriage
Weight or body image issues
Peri- and post-menopausal depression or mood swings
Safely taking psychiatric medications while pregnant or breastfeeding
Managing Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) or Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) symptoms
Every woman is different, which is why our therapists don’t try to squeeze every patient into a one-size-fits-all approach. When you seek therapy, your provider will work with you to develop a treatment plan that fits your needs and unique situation. We offer a safe and supportive space where you can share your challenges and get the support you deserve.
Our therapists are experienced in assessing, offering treatments, and coordinating care with other providers for optimal outcomes. This can include medical doctors, gynecologists, and obstetricians as needed.
